The Solarex Block IV moduleSeveral innovative concepts were introduced for the Block IV contract. Semicrystalline silicon manufactured by SEMIX Inc. is the basic cell material. A front metallization pattern combined with a wraparound-style interconnect and in-plane stress relief combine to provide a new method to reliably accomplish series-paralleling. Laminated modules using Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) as the encapsulant were manufactured for the first time.
