Loss of CO/+/ ions by reaction with H2 in OMC-1The temperature dependence of the rate constant for the reaction CO(+)+H2 yields HCO(+) has been measured in the temperature range 100-390 K. The rate constant has no dependence on temperature in this range, indicating that at the temperatures prevalent in OMC-1, the rate of loss of CO(+) by reaction with H2 is much too large to allow for the observed column abundance under steady-state conditions.
