Carboxylic Acid Ionophores as Probes of the Role of Calcium in Biological SystemsThe biological effects of calcium ionophores are described, focusing on arachidonic acid oxygenation, and the formation of a number of oxygenated metabolites of arachidonic acid. These metabolites are involved in a number of bodily functions, and their production may be regulated by calcium.
