Evaluation of the Radiometric Integrity of LANDSAT 4 Thematic Mapper Band 6 DataProbably the most generally accepted method for processing radiometric data from space is to correct the observed radiance or apparent temperature to a surface radiance or temperature value using atmospheric propagation models. As part of NASA's Heat Capacity Mapping Mission (HCMM) experiment the atmospheric propagation models were used in reverse in an attempt to evaluate the post launch radiometric response of the radiometer. Techniques successfully used to radiometrically calibrate the HCMM sensor were extended. The HCMM experiment is described and used as a base for the evaluation of the TM band 6 (infrared) sensor.
