Impurity effects in dendritic solidificationA quantitative calculation of growth rates and tip radii is presented for dendrites growing in undercooled dilute solutions. Included in the calculations are the capillary corrections to the steady-state Ivantsov needle-crystal solutions. The results show good agreement with available experimental data and support the validity of the marginal-stability theory of dendritic growth.
