Series merging of hydrogen Balmer lines during a stellar flareIt is demonstrated that the series merging of Stark broadened hydrogen Balmer profiles can produce a significant and, possibly, observable continuum enhancement in the vicinity of the Balmer jump. The implications of this result for the enhanced 'blue' continuum that is often observed in solar and stellar flares are discussed.
