Control system reconfigurationThe problem of reconfiguring a control system to accommodate the failure of a sensor or actuator is discussed in the context of several different system configurations. First, some ground rules under which the reconfiguration algorithms are to function are established. A variety of control system configurations is then considered, and it is found that the approach to reconfiguration is obvious in some cases but not clear in others. Several possible strategies for reconfiguration, applicable to different situations, are examined.
