Remote reconnaissance of submerged aquatic vegetation: A radiative transfer approachThe effectiveness of LANDSAT TM and MSS sensors for detecting submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) is assessed. The problem is approached from a theoretical standpoint in which volume reflectance from SAV under a variety of conditions is simulated. The focus is on the spectral and radiometric qualities of TM bands 1, 2 and 3 and MSS bands 4 and 5.
