Hyperion - Analysis of Voyager observationsVoyager imges of Hyperion are analyzed with respect to spin state, dimensions and shape, surface features, photometry, and colors. It is suggested that the two most important observations concerning Hyperion are the demonstration of the satellite's unusual spin state and the discovery of the apparent low density of large craters on the satellite's surface. A possible implication of such a reduced density of craters is that the last important fragmentation of Hyperion might have occurred near the end or after the period of initial heavy bombardment.
