Coating a Hydrogen-Maser Chamber With CF4Coating of carbon tetrafluoride formed on interior surface of atomic-hydrogen maser by allowing gas to freeze on surface. New coating enables maser to oscillate down to 26 K; most effective previous coating, fluorinated ethylene/polypropylene (FEP) copolymer allowed oscillation down to about 50 K.
