Selecting the process variables for filament windingA model is described which can be used to determine the appropriate values of the process variables for filament winding cylinders. The process variables which can be selected by the model include the winding speed, fiber tension, initial resin degree of cure, and the temperatures applied during winding, curing, and post-curing. The effects of these process variables on the properties of the cylinder during and after manufacture are illustrated by a numerical example.
