Temporal variations of cosmic rays over a variety of time scalesThe variation of the intensity of Galactic cosmic rays in the inner solar system over a wide variety of time scales is discussed, and the generally accepted physical model which can account quantitatively for these modulations is reviewed. The use of direct measurements and of nuclear reactions to study the temporal intensity variations is summarized. It is demonstrated that all of the observed variations could easily be the result of solar variations on long and short time scales.
