Adaptive finite element methods for compressible flow problemsSome recent work on adaptive FEMs for solving transient Euler equations in two-dimensional domains is summarized. The formulation of an FEM model of the Euler equations is shown, and the application of the adaptive strategies to data management schemes is addressed. Sample numerical results from the application of the model and strategies to the flow over a step and to transient cases are given.
