Reliability Of Inspection By SLAMScanning laser acoustic microscopy finds flaws in ceramic specimens. Laser light used to detect distortions, on angstrom scale, produced on surface of specimen by ultrasonic waves transmitted through specimen. From distortion, SLAM creates picture on video monitor of such defects as voids, inclusions, and cracks.
