Manufacturing stresses and strains in filament wound cylindersTests were performed to verify a previously developed model for simulating the manufacturing process of filament wound cylinders. The axial and hoop strains were measured during cure inside a filament wound Fiberite T300/976 graphite-epoxy cylinder. The measured strains were compared to those computed by the model. Good agreements were found between the data and the model, indicating that the model is a useful representation of the process. For the conditions of the test, the manufacturing stresses inside the cylinder were also calculated using the model.
