Towards a model for QPOsModels for explaining the phenomenon of quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) are reviewed, concentrating on the beat frequency model. It is suggested that the beat frequency model, which was developed to describe GX 5-1, is the best available model. The equations which this model uses to describe the QPO modulation are presented and problems of the beat frequency model are considered.
