Progress in determining the space orientation of starsDoyle et al. (1983, 1984) proposed a theory for determining the space orientation of the rotation axis of stars. In the present paper, an investigation is made of the precision and observational procedure with which the theory can be tested. Currently available data are presented, and observing stars are discussed. The importance of this determination to methods for the detection of extrasolar planetary systems is considered.
