Mechanisms of noise control inside a finite cylinderPreliminary results are presented for a simple elastic cylinder/acoustic cavity model. The validity of the mode matching method, which was used to couple the shell vibrations to the interior acoustic response, has been validated by comparison with Junger's (1985) method. In addition, the importance of both structural and acoustic damping in the medium response was shown to be dramatic.
