The extreme ultraviolet explorer missionThe science design goals and engineering implementation for the Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer (EUVE) science payload are discussed. The primary scientific goal of the EUVE payload is to carry out an all-sky survey in the 100- to 900-A band of the spectrum. Another goal of the mission is to demonstrate the use of a scientific platform in near-earth orbit. EUVE data will be used to study the distribution of EUV stars in the neighborhood of the sun and the emission physics responsible for the EUV mission.
