A virtual display system for conveying three-dimensional acoustic informationThe development of a three-dimensional auditory display system is discussed. Theories of human sound localization and techniques for synthesizing various features of auditory spatial perceptions are examined. Psychophysical data validating the system are presented. The human factors applications of the system are considered.
