Numerical and experimental evaluations of the flow past nested chevronsAn effort is made to contribute to the development of CFD by relating the successful use of vortex dynamics in the computation of the pressure drop past a planar array of chevron-shaped obstructions. An ensemble of results was used to compute the loss coefficient k, stimulating an experimental program for the assessment of the measured loss coefficient for the same geometry. The most provocative result of this study has been the representation of kinetic energy production in terms of vorticity source terms.
