Estimation of Boltzmann damping coefficients in beam modelsA distributed parameter model of a flexible structure with Boltzmann type viscoelastic damping is discussed. A computational method for the estimation of the damping parameters is developed, and theoretical convergence results are given. An example is presented in which actual experimental data is used, demonstrating the efficacy of the computational method and the plausibility of the model for predicting response in damped structures.
