Tribological Properties Of CeramicsReport reviews adhesion, friction, and micromechanical properties of ceramics - properties increasingly important as more ceramic materials used in bearings, seals, and gears in advanced engines and in cutting tools and extrusion dies. Report considers effects of contaminating surface films, temperature, and chemical interactions. Examines ceramics, in both monolithic and coating form, in contact with themselves, with other harder materials, and with metals.
