Enhancement Of Penetrant-Inspection ImagesProposed computerized video system processes images of fluorescent dyes absorbed in flaws in welds. Video camera, held by operator or by remote manipulator, views weld illuminated by visible white and ultraviolet light. Images of penetrating dye in cracks and voids in weld joint appear on video monitor. Fluorescent features enhanced by software to facilitate identification of true flaws and record important data.
