Atomized Water As Couplant For Ultrasonic InspectionSimple technique makes possible to use demineralized water as coupling fluid for manual-scan ultrasonic inspection of convex objects. Fine mist of demineralized water sprayed onto part to be inspected, by use of simple pump spray bottle equipped with atomizing nozzle. As transducer scans across surface, droplets feed film of water under transducer. Excess water runs off part. Inspected areas then distinguished visually from uninspected areas by absence or presence of droplets, respectively.
