New Synthesis Of High-Performance BismaleimidesNew general synthesis of tough and easy-to-process high-performance bismaleimides (BMI's) developed. Involves reaction of acetylene-terminated compounds with BMI's or biscitraconimides. Offers matrix resins and adhesives having combined advantages of toughness characteristic of thermoplastics and easy processability characteristic of thermosetting materials. Scheme has potential for providing high-performance matrix resins surviving well at high temperatures and absorb little moisture.
