Geodetic Precession Vs. Frame DraggingReport discusses precession of freely falling or orbiting gyroscope with respect to geodetic precession and frame-dragged precession, predicted by metric theories of gravitation. Geodetic precession caused by motion of gyroscope in gravitational field of massive body; frame-dragged precession caused by gravitomagnetic interaction, which is magnetic-like effect caused by motion of massive body. Both effects small. Relevant to investigations in orbital mechanics, navigation, and general relativity.
