Microgravity science and applications overview - Research, facility and instrumentation development, Space Station Freedom operations and utilization planningThe NASA microgravity science and applications program is reviewed. Particular attention is given to the planning for utilization of the Shuttle and plans leading to the utilization of Space Station Freedom. It is concluded that the potential rewards of the program include a better understanding of the physical processes in the space environment, which may lead to refined control strategies, and advances in technology, which may lead to important commercial applications.
