Engineering issues for early lunar-based telescopesSome of the key issues in the planning and construction of an early lunar astronomical observatory are identified and discussed. Recommendations are given for meeting the challenges of resolving these issues in order to make observations on the moon a reality. The need for incorporating talents from the engineering and construction communities into the space program is emphasized.
