Directly deposited current collecting grids for AMTEC electrodesCurrent collection in electrodes for the alkali metal thermal to electric converter (AMTEC) has been improved by using molybdenum grids to decrease sheet and contact resistance in RhW and PtW electrodes. The grids are directly deposited on the solid electrolyte either by sputter- or photodeposition. Comparison of electrodes having such underlying grids with those without such grids has shown power produced in an AMTEC cell to be increased by as much as 35 percent.
