Use of satellite, surface, and aerological information for the calculation of thermal radiation fluxesData from the NOAA-9 satellite on cloud amount and cloud upper boundary temperature, data from surface weather stations, and results of aerological sounding of the atmosphere are used to calculate the vertical profiles of upward, downward, and effective fluxes of longwave radiation. A comparison of satellite and surface data on cloud amount and underlying surface temperature is presented.
