Design of a constant tension thermocouple rake suitable for flame studiesAn improved, spring-loaded thermocouple rake, suitable for studying flame structure, has been designed. This design keeps the thermocouple under tension thereby ensuring that the thermocouple does not droop due to the thermal expansion of the sensing wire when inserted in the flame. The present design allows the usage of thermocouple wire as small as 0.0508 mm and relative ease in changing thermocouple wire.
