Sabot high speed interceptor AE 4273 aircraft designToday's carrier based deck launched intercept (DLI) mission is a vital one that is aimed at protecting the carrier battle group and detering potential adversaries. The assets deployed on our carrier decks are able to complete this mission but with very limited range. The waverider concept has great potential to increase the range of this carrier based mission. As a result, a request for proposals (RFP) was developed which contains design requirements for an aircraft that can complete this mission through the utilization of waverider technology.
