Hybrid analysis of deformation using interferometric measurementsTwo hybrid methods of deformation analysis combining moire interferometry and finite element techniques are introduced. The hybrid methods are applied to determine the strain fields in the test section of a composite cruciform specimen in order to evaluate the uniformity of the shear strain field. Both methods show that there are significant shear strain gradients in the specimen test section. One of the hybrid methods - the full-field analysis using the random-node mesh generator - detects the presence of material property nonuniformity which is assumed uniform in the boundary-node method.
