Modified-Signed-Digit Optical Computing Using Fan-OutExperimental optical computing system containing optical fan-out elements implements modified signed-digit (MSD) arithmetic and logic. In comparison with previous optical implementations of MSD arithmetic, this one characterized by larger throughput, greater flexibility, and simpler optics.
