Planar Schottky technology for submillimeter wavelengthsWork carried out in relation to the development of planar integrated Schottky diodes with the aim of increasing the sensitivity, reliability and efficiency of spaceborne heterodyne receivers, is reported. The results of this work include a planar diode mixer at 585 GHz with a total receiver noise temperature of 2,380 K double side band, and planar diode multipliers. The prospects for further integration of circuit elements with the GaAs diodes are discussed.
