Tectonics of the Tharsis Region of Mars: Insights from MGS Topography and GravityWe have investigated the Tharsis region using gravity, topography, and geology to constrain a spherical thin shell model. We find that Tharsis likely formed primarily by volcanic construction, and has been largely unchanged since the Noachian.
