Volcanic Degassing of Hydrogen Compounds on IoThermodynamic calculations show that hydrogen, recently detected in Io's ionosphere by the Galileo spacecraft, can degas from high-temperature silicate magmas on Io in the form of H2O, H2S, HS, NaOH, H2, KOH, and HCl in order of decreasing abundance.
