The Storm-Time Plasmasphere by IMAGE/EUVWith the availability of routine global images of the plasmasphere from the IMAGE Mission Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUV), we now have a growing body of observations that both characterize and quantify the dynamics of the plasmasphere. Direct interactions of the plasmasphere with the ring current and indirect interaction through localized electric fields appear to be the cause of a complex array of structures in the spatial distribution of thermal plasma. This presentation will show those features in detail and discuss possible mechanisms for their cause.
