Multi-Spectral Digital Imaging of Dead Sea Scrolls and Other Ancient DocumentsIt is well known that the Dead Sea scrolls and similar soft media texts are often difficult to read due to the inability of the epigrapher to distinguish the black ink with which they were written from the aged, blacked parchment on which they were inscribed. While considerable success has been achieved in enhancing the readability of these texts through infrared photography, this technique-as conventionally applied today-has distinct limitations.
