Abstract: Conjugated organic compounds with 3-phenyl-5-isoxazolone, or N, N'-diethylthiobarbituric acid acceptors have large first molecular hyperpolarizabilities in comparison to compounds with 4-nitrophenyl acceptors as measured by electric feld induced second harmonic generation, (EFISH), in chloroform, with 1.907 micron fundamental radiation.
