SWIRE: The SIRTF wide-area infrared extragalactic surveySWIRE is a wide-area, high latitude, imaging survey to be undertaken with SIRTF to trace the evolution of dusty, star-forming galaxies, evolved stellar populations, and AGN, as a function of environment from z~2.5 to the current epoch. Building on ISO's heritage, SWIRE complements smaller, deeper SIRTF GTO (Guaranteed Time Obeserver) surveys, and paves the way for the Herschel (FIRST) observatory to be launched in 2007.
