Terrestrial Response to Eruptive Solar Flares: Geomagnetic StormsThis paper describes the interplanetary structures that are associated with the large-amplitude and long-duration negative B subscript z fields that are found in the sheath field and/or driver gas regions of the shock and are thought to be the main cause of the intense storms.
