The Journey of Interstellar DustInterstellar dust particles undergo a complex journey in space. It commences with their formation in stellar outflows or outbursts, but may end in very different ways. Their fates range from sudden "death by destruction" promptly after their formation to maturity and inclusion in protoplanetary objects in stellar nursery homes. Throughout this journey dust grains are subjected to a host of interstellar processes in different astrophysical environments which leave their imprint on the dust and affects their surrounding environment. In this review I will summarize our current knowledge of the field, emphasizing what we still need to know to gain a full understanding of interstellar dust grains and their journey through the ISM.
