A Modified Dual-Wavelength Technique for Ku- and Ka-Band Radar Rain RetrievalA modified dual-wavelength radar technique is described in an attempt to eliminate double solutions of DSD that the standard dual-wavelength technique faces for small-to moderate rain rates. Assessment of the methods is made from the simulated hydrometeor profiles comprised of measured DSD. Preliminary results reveal that the modified radar technique has potential to improve accuracy of DSD and rain retrieval over the standard dual-wavelength radar technique.
