Buckling of Layered Orthotropic and Sandwich Cylindrical Shells in Axial CompressionResults of modifications of large-deflection theory for isotropic materials to shells constructed of orthotropic layers and sandwich are presented. Experimental evaluation of the buckling of a rather extensive series of plywood cylinders and of a few curved panels of sandwich construction shows reasonably good agreement with buckling predicted by theory.
