A study of planetary meteorologyPreliminary estimates are prepared of the weighting functions of the infrared bands of methane, ammonia, and hydrogen for the Jovian atmosphere. Together with the infrared spectral emission observations of Jupiter, these weighting functions are used to obtain a rough estimate of the vertical temperature profile in the Jovian atmosphere.
