Instrumentation requirements for aircraft parameter identification with application to the helicopterThe extent to which instrumentation errors cause degradation in the knowledge of stability and control derivatives identified for flight tests was studied along with the resultant degradation of the flight system performance base on these derivatives. The error in measurement and data processing systems used for parameter identification, error analysis techniques, and the effects of instrumentation, errors on the accuracy of parameter estimates are discussed. The analysis programs were used to study instrumentation error effects on the accuracy of the identified stability and control derivatives of the CH-46 helicopter.
