Unique wide field of view visual simulationVisual simulations are required to support investigations of the man-machine aspects of helicopter nap-of-the-earth flight. The visual simulation requirements are discussed vis-a-vis available technology. A wide field of view of the world outside the cockpit is necessary to provide adequate visual cues to the pilot. A unique design is described employing three TV monitors, collimating lenses, and electronics to selectively display a wide field of view without the use of a costly wide angle optical probe.
