a close-up view of io in the infrared: nims results from the galileo fly-bysWe report the initial results obtained by the Galileo Near-Infrared Mapping Spectrometer during the fly-bys of Io. Our data reveals, for the first time, the detailed thermal structure of hot spots and the local distribution of SO2 frost.
